Tankceu General Meeting
of 27 September 2024 in Istanbul (TR)
After an interval of 16 years, in September Tankceu returned to Istanbul as the venue for its annual general meeting. The high attendance rate reflected the fact that it wasn’t just the board and secretariat who were enthusiastic about this choice!
While the partners were taken on an excursion to the Topkapi Palace and Spice Bazaar, the participants in the meeting began their own programme. After delivering the introduction to the meeting, Henk Hofman thanked Hans Petersen for over 30 years of participation in Tankceu, including 14 years as an active and reliable board member. A book with photos commemorating this period was presented to him that same evening during dinner. In the review of the meetings held in 2024, special attention was paid to the planners’ meeting of 8 June in Copenhagen, which was attended by many planners and commercial staff. At that event, the Tankceu trophy was awarded to Eurobulk of Padborg (DK).
Several members, including Dekker, Altrea, Essers, Nijhof Wassink, Curt Richter, E.b.trans and FoodTankers gave interesting presentations about developments in their companies. Lionel Radenne (Brun) explained, based on his company’s experience, about what to do and what not to do in case of a cyberattack. Also discussed were experiences with alternative fuel sources, how members use AI applications in their companies, and how far along they are in the implementation of paperless processes. Another topic was the impact of increasing border controls, especially on entry into Germany.
A video was shown about women in logistics, which was made and supported by important players in European Logistics, such as Essers. The video appealed to companies to make the working environment more female-friendly and invited women to consider working in logistics.
Separately, the chemical and food divisions discussed commercial and market-related topics, after which Iffet Türken and Bahadir Çaylak gave an interesting presentation of the renowned Turkish tank producer, Kässbohrer. In the evening, Kässbohrer treated the members to an aperitif on the Upperist roof terrace, which offers magnificent views over Istanbul, followed by a delicious meal in the neighbouring restaurant, Okra.
The following morning, there was a guided tour of the historical heart of Istanbul, ending with an aperitif and some mezes.
